Drift Beyond Parallel - Chapter 1

“This is not supposed to be happening. It’s all my fault. I’ve let you down. Iris!” Cried Luth as he was awaken in such startling manner. Realising it was another of his raging nightmares that has been bearing and chaining his soul with so much scars and battered guilt, he gave a sharp shrill of anguish.

In a drift, he dashed out from his room as he rampage towards Tia’s room. He breath in the air of gladness when he saw his kid sister is sleeping soundly. As gently as possible, he closes the door and slowly amble towards the other room, which belongs to Iris.

Tears of descendant grip of guilt begins to well in his eyes. Most of Iris works of arts, his paintings, his unique photos shots and sketches were left untouched. “I swear, I will get to the bottom of this. For I know, your perish is not due to suicide.. it’s something else.”

“Luth.” State a meek voice, it was Tia.

“Don’t bother about me..go and sleep Tia. I do not want you to skip classes again.” Said Luth sternly.

Tia shakes her head and said, “Whatever..” with a tinge of annoyance and rejection. In a drift she step out of Iris’s room slammed shut the door furiously. Tia stood by the door for a moment hoping Luth will retaliate or might just coax her but nothing, null. Feeling disappointed Tia headed back towards her room. Tears of rejection fills her eyes. “Why everything needs to change? Why can’t he used to be like before? Where is Luth that we’ve been look up too..?” Raging notes scripting her thoughts.

Morning came in too soon, moan Tia as she flipped her blanket off from her body and climbed out from the bed. From her room, She could immediately smell the fresh brewed coffee. Luth is already up, or probably not even slept throughout the night again.

Tia took a quick shower, and quickly dresses up with just a plain T and jeans. In a swift, she brush her shoulder length wavy hair and tied a ponytail with a simple hair band. As she pick up her cell phone which she had place under the pillow, she took a glance at the time, “Forty-five minutes left ..no more confrontation, no more confrontation..” marks Tia as she puts both hee palms together praying hard. Tia grabbed her school bag pack before she step out from her room.

“Do you think, you’ve enough time for breakfast?” State Luth coldly as he point his finger upon the wall clock.

“Huh.. probably you might not have notice, I don’t take breakfast, I do brunch…” exclaimed Tia shaking her head.

“Why can’t you be more sensible and act like one college student?” Rant Luth.

“You should ask yourself that question?” Yelled Tia as she took the pack of sandwich and stuffed it inside her bag.

“Tia..” cried Luth but even before he could spark another word, Tia had left, slamming the door shut.

Luth sank on the couch with guilt ridden tagging his gut. “Please forgive me Tia.. None of this is your fault..none of this..”

Suddenly, his cell phone vibrates, taking him away from grating sorrow. Luth usher himself towards the cabinet and pick up his phone.

“Please call..or at least leave a message..” cast the caller.

Luth lightly place his phone back on the table anticipating in between himself, should he be taking this case or just pass it over to someone else.

Tia decides to hang around in the library with few of her classmates while waiting for the class to starts. It has been about a month or more she’s been skipping  more or two classes in a row.

“Same story?” Whispered  Ian as he sat closer next to Tia.

“My face, it does shows right?” Replied Tia with a tinge of annoyance mark on her face.

“It’s been like almost four months Tia..” rant Ian.

“Ah huh! Thanks for reminding.” mutters Tia grimly. “It’s not his death depleting my spirit it’s my brother.. He took it too hard on himself and worst shit, dragging me along with his melodrama mood.”

“And you skipping classes? Hmm doesn’t make sense at all..” rants Ian.

“To get his attention? He seems to forget I do exist..” cried Tia disappointedly.

“You seems to be getting the attention now alright..” state Ian annoying Tia further, however she remained speechless with doubtful thoughts webbing her mind.

“You don’t have too care so much or be bothered alright..” exclaimed Tia as she grab her books and her bag as she deciding to leave.

“Tia, pleased..” mark Ian as he lightly tugged upon Tia’s hand pulling her back to her seat. “Alright I won’t bother about your family conflicts anymore, but me as your senior buddy, I bound to be nosey about your academics, circular and social progress..”

“Of course. My presence do fit a purpose for you Ian. So you will get those extra merits for sticking around with me. I guess that’s what friendship meant to you..” rant Tia as she roughly grab her stuff and leave.

“Tia..come on..” marks Ian in dismay.

However, Tia simply ignores him and walks away.
