Ezekiel too had been religiously getting himself involved in the tiny mosque that was situated few kilometers away from Ashraf's hut, by getting himself occupied with the cleaning, repairing and giving free tuition for the local children there. He had never felt so light hearted. before. Food was scares but miraculously it was always enough for both of them. No IT gadgets, no television, no radio and phones, but things still gets by with so much contentment and bliss. However, he still had another mission which he had set his mind. To get rid of this thing inside his chest. It does troubles him too much, for each day he needs to bind and hide it with a very long bandage. Unfortunately, he had no means and necessity, that aid him with this unfulfilled tasks.
"What are you sighing about, my young friend?" asked Ashraf with a smile, as he carefully sat on a stool with Ezekiel by his side.
Ezekiel, remain silent as he place his hands upon Ashraf shoulder. "One of my self-reflecting company..." mutters Ezekiel with a grinned.
"Hmmm.....and?" asked Ashraf again.
"Well, need the other account to get it done with...once and for all." mutters Ezekiel.
"The Halal cafe somewhere down town this area, does need a waiter and a cashier." utters Ashraf. "Start small, to make it big. InsyaAllah." continues Ashraf with a grinned.
Ezekiel put on his plain white tee and a pair of long trousers, which was given to him as a gift from the chief of the mosque, which Ezekiel accepted those blessed gift whole heartily. Looking at his reflection on the half cracked mirror, Ezekiel begins to smile. He had grown himself a goatee, which he had neatly trimmed, his hair has over grown too, almost toughing the collar of his shirt, but he felt enlightened. "Praise to Allah, for this significant gift which You have bless me with."
"Bismillahirahmanirahim." and with his right feet stepping out from his home, he set his goal for his first day on his job as a waiter, at the restaurant which Ashraf had mention to him few days ago.
“So how’s your new job Eze?” asked Ashraf, as he waits for Ezekiel to place the naan bread onto his plate.
“Alhamdullilah. It was awesome. My boss, he was cool and the best part is, I could still do my prayers somewhere, at the back of the store room.” replied Ezekiel, with a smile.
Ashraf listen thoughtfully with a smile, but with his heart and mind busy reciting Allah’s name with his prayer beads.
Ezekiel tidy up his bed before he gets himself ready for work. However, he has some other plan, which he had set in his mind. “I move along first.” noun Ezekiel, as he came closer towards Ashraf and took hold of his hands and bring it closer towards his lips before he gave his salams and left.
With heart full of countenance, as Ezekiel took the envelope which he had place some money inside it, and slip it inside the donation box of the old age home which was few distance away from his working area.
Early birds begins their journey in searching for new fate and new hope. Chirping earnestly, welcoming the morning sun and the enlightened light blue sky. Ezekiel, quicken his pace with full pledge intensity soul, towards the café which he has been working for several months now. Suddenly along his way, he saw a little girl, around the age of six or seven was roughly been pushed off towards the street. Thankfully, there were no incoming car on the road at that point of time. Ezekiel was infuriated of what he seeing, as he rushed towards the crying child.“Next, time if you want to do your begging task, go to any of those lame organization and plead to them, don’t come and waste our time with your imbecile cried.” retort the lady haughtily. Ezekiel was ultimately shocked because he recognized that voice very well. It was his mother. Ezekiel gently pulls the kid by his side as he look up towards Eva with intensity of anger in his eyes. Eva could not almost recognized her son due to his trimmed beard and goatee, but his eyes do give him away.
“Huh! What kind of luck am I having today? First, is this stupid girl and now, seeing this ungrateful son of mine?” snapped Eva sarcastically.
Ezekiel remains unspoken, as his feet just stay rooted on the ground but he still had his sight towards his mum.
“What now? You have become dumb?” exclaimed Eva smirk and then she get back inside her car and speed off the road hastily.
The little girl soon released her hands away from Ezekiel and then she ran. Ezekiel gave chase but, strangely she was gone, in the midst of the crowd. He decides to leave her but his thoughts begins to wonder and signify some questions about this incident. “Who is she? And seeing back my mum been here? Was this just a coincidence, or was there more than meets the eye?”
Ezekiel, was promoted to become the account executive of the café, much to his and his other colleagues delightfulness. He was in charge on all the money matters and as an executive, he needs to bank in all their collection, by end of the day. Ezekiel complies to all his duties without any qualms.
There are not much crowd in the bank, as it was almost half an hour before their closing time. He joins in the queue and it seems, he was the last person to be in the line. Suddenly, in a halt, few masked man dash into the bank, with guns in their hands, causing some chaos and heretic moment upon the victims. Ezekiel remains silent, but his heart was racing fast, not because he fear for himself , but for the rest of the people in the bank and worst still, there are few children tugging frantically in between their mummies and daddies legs, whimpering in terror.
“Shut up!!!” yelled one of the robbers pointing up the gun towards the head of then man with his child, while the rest of the terrorist, busy themselves robbing away the cash. Suddenly, the alarm was sound, and without further do, the robber had taken someone to become their hostage. And to Ezekiel’s horror, they had taken his mum.
“Mum.” whispered Ezekiel.
Eva begins to cry hysterically as panic runs down her nerves. “Be quite old lady. Next time, don’t try to act stupid, by sounding that alarm.” shouted the man, as he hit her with his gun. His torment did not end there, as he pushed her to the ground and begins kicking her viciously.
Ezekiel, hands tremble in anger. Clutching both his fists by his side, as he amble closer towards them. “Leave my mum alone.” utters Ezekiel coldly.
“Ezekiel, what are you doing? Just stay out of this.” warned his mother.
“Oh! What’s this? Good drama between the son and his mama?” cried the robber, as he begins to laugh horrendously. He knew, Ezekiel’s soul was filling up with anger, after what he had done to his mum. To add more fire to the blazing inferno, the man had brutally, kick his mum’s head, making her whimper in fear and pain.
“You are calling your own death!” screamed Ezekiel. And without thinking twice, he rushed towards the man and gave him a violent punch across his face, sending him sprawling onto the floor. Ezekiel went towards his mum and gently lift her up, back onto her feet.
“Ezekiel, please don’t risk your life for me.” pleads his mum. With tears in his eyes, but with no words spoken, much to his mum despair. “What have I done to you ?” cried Eva remorsefully. Out of sudden, another robber came forward, as he stood behind his mum with a gun in his hand. Ezekiel, quickly pushed his mum away and in a split second, the loud bang of the gun shot almost crippling Eva’s nerve’s.
“Eze!!! No!!!” screamed Eva, tearfully as she rushed towards him. Ezekiel was shot around his abdomen. With her bare hands she, place it over the gun shot wound as she tries to sustain the bleeding. “Eze, please stay with me. Stay with mummy.” whispered Eva ruefully. Ezekiel quiver in pain as his body begins to feel so cold and numbness surrounding his soul. Cops have enclosed and condoned the place, killing all the bandits with few bloody shot wounds.
